8201m / 26,906 ft
Cho Oyu is the world's sixth highest mountain and considered by many as the easiest of the fourteen 8000m peaks. This is mainly due to the ease of access which is achieved utilising vehicles to the base of the mountain and a two day trek in hiking boots to the base camp at 5600m. The climbing route has only a few short technical sections yet is direct, allowing climbers to gain altitude without covering a lot of distance.
As with all ascents at high altitude the climbing is strenuous and requires a high standard of fitness but as a peak to experience the thin air at 8000m for the first time, Cho Oyu is ideal. A small team of Sherpas will accompany the expedition to provide the carrying power and to ensure the high camps are well stocked.
Our familiarity with the mountain and our ability to transcend the logistical hurdles, as well as providing excellent base camp food and comfort, makes the possibility of taking those final steps onto an 8200m summit that much greater.

Read the dispatches from previous Adventure Consultants Expeditions to Cho Oyu:
In 2008 we decided against going to Cho Oyu because of the political / permit situations; we ran a very successful expedition to Baruntse instead. In 2012 the Tibetan border was closed to foreigners and hance we were unable to operate our usual expedition.
** 2013 Pre trip Trek, August 8 - 25 to Island Peak, ex Kathmandu.
This a private trek we are organising for our 2013 Cho Oyu climbers to partake in also if they would like to do an initial pre-acclimatisation climb of Island Peak. There is plenty of acclimatisation time allowed in the normal Cho Oyu expedition but some team members may like to add on this trek to ensure they acclimatise well on the expedition. Pricing is based on the final number of participants as follows;
