In July 2010 Adventure Consultants is organising an expedition to climb Alpamayo’s Southwest Face. This mountain is often referred to as the most beautiful mountain in the world with its classic fluted snow slopes desdencing like fingers off the summit.

Nevado Alpamayo, as it is more correctly known, is situated in Peru’s Cordillera Blanca. With its twenty-nine summits at over 6000 m, the Cordillera Blanca forms but a small part of the Andes chain, which lies down the whole western side of South America. Alpamayo doesn’t quite reach that rounded figure of 6000m, but makes up for its relative lack of height in aesthetic beauty. The climbing is not overly technical but the addition of altitude makes this is a challenging South American peak

Our small group expedition to Alpamayo, with a 1:2 guide to client ratio, allows you a greater chance of summit success.

  • An amazing cultural and ecological discovery
  • Short duration from North America
  • Experience moderate altitude mountaineering on technical ground
  • Add on Huascaran, Peru's highest peak, for a fantastic 26 day expedition

 Dates: July 7 to 24, 2010

Duration: 18 days

Departure: ex Lima, Peru

Price: US$5,700

Huascaran Add On

An ascent of Huascaran 6,768m (22,205 ft), the highest peak in Peru, can turn our 18 Day Alpamayo programme into a fantastic 26 day expedition to include one of the world's most imposing summits. Huascaran is the highest point in all the earth's tropics and the sixth highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere. The climbing is moderately difficult on slopes up to 30-45 degrees, but not as technical or steep as Alpamayo.

The cost depends on how many people join the extension and is guided at a 1:2 ratio. Your guide/s from the Alpamayo programme will accompany you.

Dates: July 25 to Aug 1, 2010

Duration of the trip thus: 26 days

1 Person add on US$3,500
2-3 People add on US$2,250 each
4 People add on US$1,850 each
