We are organising a new trek to the Upper Dolpo region in Nepal this year, to attend the 66th Shey Festival at Shey Gompa, which is only held every 12 years.
Dates: August 18 - 15 September, 2012.
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu.
Day 02: Explore Kathmandu.
Day 03: Flight to Nepalganj overnight in Hotel.
Day 04: Fly to Juphal and trek to Dunai Camp.
Day 05: Trek to Chhepka (2,840m)
Day 06: Trek to Rechi Gaun (2900) or (sumduwa)
Day 07: Trek to Ringmo and Phoksumdo Lake (3,700m)
Day 08: Rest day and acclimatization at Phoksumdo
Day 09: Trek to Phoksumdo Lake North Camp (3,630m) sallaghari
Day 10: Trek to Kang La Base Camp.
Day 11: Cross Kang La (5,380m), trek to Shey Gompa (4,400m) Camp.
Day 12: Opening ceremony of Shey Festival. Camp.
Day 13: Food festivall and local handicraft exhibition with demonstration
Day 14: Shey Ribo drugta circumambulating. Camp.
Day 15: Natural mask dance in the morning & dolpo cultural show in the evening Camp
Day 16: Horse, yak and goat race. Exhibition of traditional Amchi Treatment and practices. Camp.
Day 17: Final day gathering of every high lamas long life Blessing by his holiness (H.H hechen rabjam rimporche)
Day 18: Trek to Namgung (4,430m) Camp.
Day 19: Cross Saldang La (5,060m) Camp.
Day 20: Trek to Jayanta Bhanjyang Base Camp.
Day 21: Trek to over the Jayanta Bhanjyang Dho Tarap (3944m) Camp.
Day 22: Trek to Sishul khola (3770m) Camp.
Day 23: Trek to Chheur (3610m) Camp.
Day 24: Trek to Tarakot (2520m) camp.
Day 25: Dunai (2100m) camp
Day 26: Trek to Juphal (2475m) Camp.
Day 27: Juphal - Nepalgunj - Kathmandu, Hotel.
Day 28: Kathmandu.
Day 29: Departure from Kathmandu.
