Jason is based in Bellingham, Washington,  an hour and a half north of his hometown, Seattle, and the location for AC partner, American Alliance Institute's headquarters.

Jason's desire to get up higher than hiking and skiing allowed led him to climbing in 1992, at age 20.  He became a guide in 2000 because he liked the idea of teaching other people the sport that he loves. He says,  "It's a great feeling when someone sees a grand view, or summits a mountain, for the first time. It's great to see a person succeed."

Jason is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide, AIARE Avalanche Trained Level I and II, Technical Rope Rescue Technician and an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Program Provider.  He guides extensively in the US, Canada, Bolivia and Ecuador.

His most memorable climbing experience is an ascent of the Resolution Arete on Mt. Wilson in Red Rock Canyon just outside of Las Vegas. "The route wasn’t terribly good, but we did it in a team of four with a bivy half-way up. I remember looking out at the lights of Las Vegas on the night we bivied and thinking, there’s something very special about doing a big route in good style with good friends…”

Jason is a playwright, screenwriter, film critic, and outdoor adventure writer. He authored the guidebook, "Washington Ice: A Climbing Guide" and has written for Climbing Magazine and the Northwest Mountaineering Journal. He has a background in education and has taught at both secondary and university institutions.  He is bi-lingual, speaking fluent Spanish as well as his native "American" English.
