18 x Everest summiteer Ang Dorjee Sherpa is leading our Mera Peak expedition this post monsoon and there are still a few places left if you’d like to join one of the world's most celebrated expedition leaders on this brilliant trek, followed by an ascent of Nepal’s highest trekking peak. Ang Dorjee provides a colourful insight to the Sherpa customs and way of life while carefully supporting the team members on their journey through this magical landscape that is off the beaten track.
Dates: Sept 24 - Oct 17, 2016
We are able to offer a unique opportunity to purchase a number of beautifully presented replicas of Sir Edmund Hillary’s ice axe that he personally signed. The axe has been mounted in a glass case with colourful illustrations that can be personalised to align with your requirements; be it as a gift to a valued sponsor, a feature item at your home or business, perhaps a personal souvenir of your own ascent, or as the feature item at a fundraising event.
The cost of the axe in the case is NZ$3995 (US$2,822) plus freight costs.
Please note: 20% of the cost goes directly to the Sherpa Future Fund and other charities within Nepal. The Sherpa Future Fund was established to help the families of Nepalese climbers who lost their lives in the mountains with education scholarships for their children.
8 x Everest summits guide Mike Roberts will be leading our group on Cho Oyu this coming season and there is still space available to join our climbing team at this point so please get in contact to become a member of this team, on what is acknowledged as the best 8000m peak to climb with the highest statistics for summit success. Adventure Consultants have a solid summit success record on Cho Oyu, so get in touch today to discuss making the journey to Tibet via Kathmandu, Nepal, for a super memorable 8000m peak climb.
Dates: August 30 – October 12, 2016
Join us this fall to ski from the summit of Cho Oyu, the world’s 6th highest mountain at 8,201m! This is an incredible opportunity for expert back-country skiers with mountaineering experience to ski Cho Oyu. It will require that you perform well at altitude, and can ski any snow, in any condition, and in control. The ski descent will be led by IFMGA Guide Dean Staples and has very limited places available. Exciting!
Dates: August 30 – October 12, 2016
It really is the final hour for joining one of our Vinson Massif groups on the most remote of the Seven Summits in Antarctica. In a few days flights will all be locked down and the limited seats taken so if you are considering this brilliant adventure next southern hemisphere summer then now is the time to secure that position.
Our popular guided trekking programmes in Europe are the best way to experience the Tour du Mont Blanc and Summer Haute Route. We take the hassle out of organising what are logistically challenging trips and enable you to enjoy the superb high altitude trekking in the Alps while our guides take care of all the details.
Tour du Mont Blanc
Enjoy this brilliant hiking adventure where you `pass-hop’ between seven valleys over seven days as you circumnavigate Mt Blanc on the Tour du Mont Blanc trek over 7 days. Each night on this tour you will stay in delightful alpine chalets and hotels in villages that are well appointed and run by local families serving fine food and wines of the region.
Over the duration of the tour you traverse three countries, France, Italy and Switzerland. At each overnight stop you can absorb the local atmosphere before heading off to the next destination. Each trekking day is around five hours and you will carry only a light trekking pack.
The summer Haute Route, or `high route’, is a spectacular and demanding trek through the French and Swiss Alps, from Chamonix in France to Zermatt in Switzerland. You will stay in high mountain refuges and hotels each night as you follow the route that traverses below the summits of ten of the highest peaks in the Alps.
The route ascends high mountain passes including the Serpentine at 3796m that is one of the most stunning vantage points in all of the European Alps. The spectacular views will be just reward for the effort of the climb. You will descend icy glaciers and traverse green alpine valleys with flower-covered meadows with occasional picturesque villages to pass through. In no time you will become absorbed into a world of glaciers and towering, snow-capped peaks interspersed with the vibrant culture of French and Swiss mountain villages. Finally you will arrive into the beautiful alpine town of Zermatt with the imposing and famous Matterhorn towering above. You will relish participating in this physical yet spectacular trek forever.
The challenging South West Ridge of Cholatse 6,440m is a hidden gem of the Himalaya and a solid mountaineering objective for experienced climbers. Nestled between the Khumbu and Gokyo Valleys in the Everest region, Cholatse is a spectacular peak with steep soaring lines on every aspect. Our line up the South West Ridge involves climbing steep snow and ice pitches linking two camps that we place alpine style on our way to the summit. We acclimatise on Lobuche East before crossing the Cho La to our Base Camp beneath the mountain. The route ascends through snow slopes leading to a crux section on rock. Once past the difficulties, the climbing culminates in a steep and superb ridgeline that plateaus onto the summit dome. This expedition is planned to include Sherpa support but relies on the collective efforts of team members in each camp and on the route to contribute to the success of the ascent.
Dates: October 21 - November 21, 2016
Two of our favourite Course and Ascent programmes in the European Alps are in Switzerland and In Italy;
MONTE ROSA COURSE & ASCENTS
Begin your mountaineering career in the heart of the Swiss Alps by scaling several peaks in the Monte Rosa region on the Monte Rosa Course and Ascents programme, or simply partake in some enjoyable climbing where you can extend yourself to whatever level of difficulty you enjoy.
If this is your first time climbing, you can start with introductory lessons on the easier peaks, then move on to more challenging ascents. Experienced climbers can immediately lock into ascents of the series of summits that are all in close proximity to the alpine hut system. Should you want to push your limits, your guide will be happy to help you develop new skills.
Dates: July to September – you select your own course dates to suit
GRAN PARADISO COURSE & ASCENT
Learn introductory skills for mountaineering, and then consolidate your skills on a training climb followed by an ascent of Gran Paradiso, the highest peak in the Italian Alps.
On day one you will embark on a scenic trek to the alpine hut. Days two and three will focus on introductory skills for mountaineering while doing training climbs on nearby peaks. Rising early on day four you then climb to the summit of Gran Paradiso where you can take in the amazing views across to the Mt Blanc Massif before your return to Chamonix that afternoon. Perfect!
Dates: July to September – you select your own course dates to suit
Add on a 2 day / 2 night Europe Pre-Course & Acclimatisation Programme to any European Alps trip.
The focus of the Sherpa Future Fund has centred on providing education to the children of Nepalese workers who have lost their lives in the mountains and as a result of generosity of many the Sherpa Future Fund is able to support 13 children in their schooling and boarding costs while two more are yet to start their schooling. All but one of the children who are already at school are now attending boarding schools in Kathmandu that have been selected because they provide caring and supportive environments with dedicated teaching staff.
