Adventure News 4 December 2015
For want of an exotic mountain adventure, there can be little doubt that Ojos del Salado in the high altitude Atacama Desert in Chile ticks that list! Not only is it the highest volcano on the planet, it sports the highest lake in the world, provides habitation for the very rare Andean Flamingo on Laguna (lake) Santa Rosa, and has soothing hot pools where you can soak your tired legs at Laguna Verde after making an ascent of Ojos del Salado. The mountain is non-glaciated and the trip is non-technical apart from a rock scramble the last 20m to the summit. If you’d like to experience a high altitude trek in this arid desert why not join us on our next trip: March 6 -20, 2016.
We’ve been constantly working on improving every aspect of our service on Kilimanjaro and safaris since 2004 so it’s no surprise to us when we receive feedback like this from a couple recently;
You cannot go to Kilimanjaro without doing our 4 day spectacular Serengeti safari, and this is how Kathleen thought about that;

The Aconcagua season is underway with the first of our three expeditions just beginning the trek to base camp. There has been a lot of snow in the Andes this spring so the mountain should have snow on it for some time. Prospective high altitude climbers will enjoy good cramponing conditions so why not consider taking one of the positions available on the Dec 30 and January 29 expeditions? Note our Jan 29 trip is our new Aconcagua Course and Ascent programme.
Alpamayo received an early attempt by AC owner Guy Cotter’s father, back in 1964, but was thwarted when Ed Cotter’s climbing partner fell and broke his leg, thus ending the expedition.
Alpamayo is the most spectacular peak in the Andes and this 18 day trip to climb the steep south west face is a brilliant adventure, all achieved in a respectably short timeframe.
For those with a little more time up their sleeves, why not stay on for the Artesonraju add-on that involves a 9 day extension trip following the Alpamayo ascent. Artesonraju is the iconic mountain as depicted in the Paramount pictures logo and another challenging technical mountain to finish off a fantastic technically challenging 25 day Andean odyssey!
It’s not that hard to get to Reykjavik in Iceland and from there you can join our 7 day expedition to attempt the highest peak in Greenland (and in the Arctic), Mt Gunnbjörn. At 3,694m / 12,119ft above sea level the peak enables you a brilliant but short duration expedition offering full immersion on this Arctic gem. The trip runs May 30 to June 5, 2016 so why not let the boss know you’ll be away that week and mark it up in your calendar now!
While you're thinking about that region, we're accepting bookings for our Greenland Crossing Expedition as well - the classic polar travel journey, crossing from east to west over 34 days, from April 18 - May 21, 2016.

The Adventure Consultants Sherpa Future Fund was established to assist Sherpa families experiencing hardship and to provide scholarships to the children of Sherpas who passed away in the mountains of Nepal, to ensure funding for their educations. Due to the generosity of many of you who share our sympathy for the well-being of these kids we are happy to report that all the children in our network are becoming established in good colleges and schools. We are also attending to the needs and well-being of the widows with accommodation support and living expenses where needed as well as job training in conjunction with Sherpa Adventure Gear in Kathmandu. If you would like to help support these families we appreciate donations to the SFF which will be providing support through to the completion of these needy children's educational tenure.
