Aconcagua Congratulations – Seven Summits Victor

We'd like to congratulate our first two teams on Aconcagua this season for the great success with their expeditions and summit climbs. The climbs were led by Viictor Saunders, who has now completed his Seven Summits and also in 2014 is now Vice President of the Alpine Club. Congratulations Victor and all our summiters! Our third expedition is currently underway with potential for more Seven Summiters from the results of the expedition - watch this space!

Skiing Monkey Hill in a storm Where are all the AC Guides in late January/early February?

Ski touring in Gulmarg of course! Gulmarg simply has outrageously good snow and this is the best time of the winter to go. We have tours underway at present, so mark your calendar for Jan / Feb 2015 to join the happiest people on the planet skiing some of the deepest powder in the nicest trees possible in an exotic Himalayan location serviced with great hotels and wonderful food. No wonder the AC ski mad guides are there!

Haute Route Ski Touring 2013 for banner Paolo Pieroni What to do in March?

We have two astoundingly good options for you on opposite sides of the world:

Europe Haute Route in the Swiss Alps - mid March through April is the time to do this classic high alpine ski tour. We have guides available who have done the route and its variations many times and know how to make the most of the weather conditions and hut availability at the time. If you are light on skills for ski touring we can offer instruction days out of Chamonix as part of your planned itinerary prior to setting off on the tour.

Summer climbing in New Zealand's Southern Alps - absolute serenity in our beautiful Alps with views to the Pacific Ocean - we are fully booked through early / mid February but have guides available from late February onwards into March (and April is nice too in late summer) to take you into the high alpine regions of the Southern Alps and climb your heart out. Add on some summer days enjoying the mountain towns of Wanaka and Queenstown and there you have the perfect get away from it all type of trip.

Adventure Consultants wish to congratulate Josh Hodgkinson on reaching the South Pole this month, as part of an All the Way South Pole Expedition (with a Messner start).

We have Greenland Crossing expeditions confirmed for April along with Last Degree North Pole and are taking bookings and fielding enquiries for All the Way South Pole 2014 and Last Degree South Pole 2014.

Antarctic Peninsula by Yacht – this month's superb expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula has concluded with Jacquelene and Neville Knuckey, Warren Dobe and guide Phil Wickens enjoying multiple days of climbing and adventures utilising the yacht Icebird as their base for a month on the peninsula. They achieved some first ascents, which ticked their climbing ambitions and explored many a bay and cove, encountering wildlife and an untouched environment at every turn. Read their dispatches. The next opportunity to do this with AC is January 2015.

Polar Training in New Zealand - our polar training course is set in the winter months here in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, with ideal conditions at that time to emulate the chilly temperatures, snow, and ice you will experience on your polar expedition. The course aims to build your skills in all aspects of polar travel from camp management to crevasse rescue and endurance sled hauling in remote locations where you need to be self reliant. Dates for the Polar Training Course are July 28 - August 1, 2014.

At dawn, if it is clear, you get to see the huge shadow of Mt Everest. Nepal Spring 2014 – Everest/ Lhotse, Manaslu Climb & Trek, Mera Peak, Everest Base Camp Trek

The pre-monsoon Himalayan climbing season is looming large and we have many exciting expeditions being finalised at present:

Everest 2014 - our core team are all confirmed with Dean Staples leading the expedition assisted by Ang Dorje and Lydia Bradey. Mike Roberts is returning to lead one of our film units. Our Operations Manager Caroline Blaikie is returning to her Base Camp Manager role; new for 2014 she will be assisted by our Food Manager Sarah Macnab. We have a couple of spaces still available if you are still finalising your own plans for the pre-monsoon climbing season. There is the option to climb Lhotse also.

For a very special trek to Everest Base Camp you can still join our second trip as the first departure is full - dates are Apil 21 - May 9, 2014. The trek is very special as whilst on the expedition you become part of the inner workings of one of the original and best expedition operators on Mt Everest.

Manaslu 2014 - led by Victor Saunders. All on the team are looking forward to an 8000m peak mission this spring and our permit has room for more climbers if you would like to join. There is an accompanying trek also to this beautiful part of Nepal for US$3920 per person.

Last but not least we have our Mera Peak Expedition which heads off the beaten track to trek though the delightful Hinku Valley and onto Mera, which has the significance of being the highest of the Trekking Peaks in Nepal at 6,476m. This expedition represents an opportunity to train for future high altitude climbs by ascending to this height or experience exhilarating climbing on a 6000m peak for the first time.

Seven Summits this Year

Kilimanjaro and Elbrus - get underway with some high altitude climbing on a Seven Summits peak, with two wholly unqiue mountains to start with - one in Tanzania and one in Russia.

Mark Sedon

Denali – very few spaces left in 2014 but call us and we may be able to find a spot for you. 2015 is starting to fill up also.

Carstensz – our March expedition is not operating, next opportunities for Carstensz (heli access) are August and November.

Vinson - the season for 2014-15 is open, we have four expedition dates to choose from and bookings are now open.

Happy Climbing Trekking & Skiing from the AC Team :)
