New Zealand guide Richard Raines is a Wanaka local who loves helping others explore his back yard mountains and slopes. Originally a ski guide, with mountain guiding soon following suit, Richard bring a wealth of experience to his role.

Bio
Raised in Auckland, New Zealand and now based in Wanaka, Richard started climbing in 2001, at age 21. He became a ski guide in 2007, moving on to become a climbing guide in 2010.
He likes climbing because, "It's always an adventure." He enjoys taking people to places they would otherwise never go and says, "It is very satisfying and a great way to go to work."
His most memorable climbing experience to date is doing the Mt Cook Grand Traverse in 2008. Richard has guided and instructed extensively throughout the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
